Membership
The Arboretum is an independent, non profit 501 c(3) corporation. Membership dues are the major source of income for the Arboretum. Learn more or download a member application at our membership link.


Our Collections
The central theme of our mission, the Arboretum's two dozen plant and tree collections provide endless opportunity for education, habitat, and aesthetic pleasure. Our Plant Collections page has more information.

Volunteering
There are three volunteer programs at the Arboretum. You may choose to participate in any one - or a combination of two or three depending upon your availability and interest. Visit our Volunteering section FMI.


Facilities Rental
The Pine Tree State Arboretum grounds and adjacent Viles Visitors Center with 2 multifunctional meeting rooms are available year round for meetings, conferences, weddings, receptions, and other special events. View our Facilities Rental section to see all the amenities we offer.


Volunteers
If only one child out of all the groups I lead each year turns off their video game and goes out to explore the back yard I will have succeeded. And if I really get lucky that child will grow up to be a naturalist.

The Mission of the Pine Tree State Arboretum is "to promote the knowledge and appreciation of Maine's trees and other flora for people of all ages by offering educational, recreational, and inspirational opportunities."
The six-mile, year round trail system is open to hiking, jogging, bird watching, non-motorized biking horseback riding, and cross-country skiing on groomed winter trails.
A number of trails have hard-packed surfaces suitable for wheelchair access. Enjoy a picnic, take some photos, look for birds (over 150 species have been spotted).
Pets are permitted on a leash. Trail maps are available at the Trail Information sign board, seven days/week or at the Viles Visitor Center Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm.
