The Viles Pond Loop is the best introductory walk in the Arboretum. It goes through the hosta garden, past the piggery and out to Viles Pond. It is just about a mile round trip.

Trails open every day of the year during daylight hours. The Viles Visitors Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Dogs are allowed on
arboretum grounds but must be leashed at all times. Dog waste must be removed from trails. Please keep dogs out of the plant collections and away from the hostas, shrubs, flowers, etc.
Bicycles are allowed on the trails but must yield to visitors on foot. Courtesy, common sense, and safety for all are the guidelines.
On groomed trails - skiing only. Anywhere else - skiers, snowshoers, and hikers share the trails.
Motorized vehicles, including motorbikes, motorcycles, ATVs, go-carts, and golf carts, are not allowed on Arboretum property except as authorized in advance and in writing by the executive director for a specific purpose. Motorized wheelchairs are allowed, as are school busses bringing students to the Johnson Learning Center for a pre-scheduled program.
Horses are allowed on the trails but not on bridges and boardwalks.
Smoking is not allowed in the visitors or anywhere on the grounds.
Hunting is not permitted anywhere on Arboretum grounds.
